London is a fantastic place to get to know well. There are hundreds of great things to see and do in this vibrant and bustling capital city, but if you only have a single day or night to visit this can feel a little overwhelming. Here are some useful tips on what to do to fill your time and enjoy yourself fully if you haven’t got long in London!
This beautiful district is packed full of boutiques, restaurants, and markets, and is famous for its wonderful street performers. It has a sophisticated yet bohemian feel and is a great way to see the best of London without hitting any tourist traps. Perfect for a relaxed meal, it also offers tasty food on the go for those of you with only a day to see the sights. Recommended is MD’s Sandwiches, an Austrian sandwich bar with a reasonably priced yet tasty menu.
The Cocoa Box
If you have chance to book in advance, this could be a great idea for something a little different. The Cocoa Box on Primrose Hill Road offers bespoke cupcake or chocolate making workshops that take around 2 hours; ideal to fit in to a one day stopover in London! You get to take home your confectionery creations at the end of the session for a new, edible take on a London souvenir.
This North London venue offers a huge range of theatre, music, and dance performances for all the family. Particularly good for kids, it also offers free events as well as a great line up of stand up comedians. A brilliant alternative to the big blockbusters of Central London, artsdepot is a family-friendly arts venue with a contemporary feel.
The Ghost Bus Tours
For a scarily exciting alternative to the London tourist buses, check out the Ghost Bus Tours. For those of you with a spare evening in London, this bus tour leaves from Northumberland Avenue and takes you on a creepy nighttime journey throughout the haunted hotspots of the UK’s capital city. Great fun, this bus is also available for private parties!
Finally, if you fancy a day (or night!) out with a cool vibe, check out Camden Town in northwest London. The daytime markets are famous for their great food and world-renowned alternative fashion stalls, and at night the pubs and bars are certainly worth a visit. Particularly good is The World’s End pub, a historic and eclectic venue with famous patrons that once included Charles Dickens!
