Heathrow Airport to London by Taxi

There are two options for taxis in London: the well-known black cabs or the lesser-known minicab.

Black Cab

Black cabs are a London icon and starting your trip to London off in one is a great, albeit expensive, option. Black cabs can hold a maximm of five passengers and no more than three or four large suitcases. There is a taxi rank outside each of the airport’s terminals where you can find black cabs.

Time: Anywhere from 30 to 70 minutes depending on your destination and traffic.
Cost: On the meter anywhere from £40 to £70 depending on your destination.

MiniCab

Minicabs look like regular cars but they are regulated and you should only ever get in an official, licensed minicab. Licensed minicabs are not allowed to pick people up in the streets meaning you can not hail them in the same way you can hail a black cab. Minicabs pickups must be arranged beforehand by calling In a minicab, the fare is agree beforehand but there is rarely much room to negotiate as they have set fares depending on your destination.

Cost: Cheaper than a black cab.
